Extrusion Blow Moulding

In extrusion blow moulding (EBM) a hot tube of plastic material, called a parison, is dropped from an extruder and captured in a water-cooled mould. Once the moulds are closed, the air is injected through the top of the neck of the container. When the moulding process is completed, the moulded plastic component is emptied from the mould and trimmed of any over moulded plastic fragments that are not part of the intended finished piece. There are several advantages of EBM, one of which is lower mould costs compared to ISBM or IBM and the capability of forming handles. Another advantage of EBM is multi-layer capability.
